iGNiTE Summer 2009

dancersinsun

This has been a packed summer for our iGNiTE project and has seen the team travel all over the country.  The iGNiTE project has taken on several different guises, letting us take the experience into secondary schools and running our first summer school.

Jedburgh Grammar School and Arbroath Academy

These were our first two opportunities to run our iGNiTE process in secondary schools. Both experiences were very different but very successful for example in Jedburgh Grammar school we worked with the whole of the first year and in Arbroath Academy we worked a group of selected pupils. We hope this great work can continue.

 Summer School

At the beginning of July we took some time to train our newest volunteers in a 3 day intensive iGNiTE. These three days gave us an opportunity to look closely at our iGNiTE process and equip them to lead an iGNiTE in the future.

Learning-Through-Doing

Once the Summer School was complete we were given the opportunity to put all the new things we had learnt and put them into action when we ran our iGNiTE process in Salvation Army and City Chambers in Dundee. Our Team worked hard for three days to produce a final performance about the city of Dundee and what it meant to the participants. This performance took place in City Chambers, followed by dancing in the City Square.

Adventures of the Little People

Towards the end of the summer we ran our iGNiTE process with a group of 8-12 years old. Both volunteers and participants had a fun filled four days in which they produced a film, art work, plays and fashion all based on the theme of Dinosaurs. The final performance was enjoyed by all who attended.
